DVD links
I'm a recent DVD purchaser. Here are just a few tips I gave my pal Steve for
shopping for DVDs on the internet
I buy as much of the stuff as I can at 50% off or more, by watching the sales.
I got a bunch of old oscar winners for $9.95 each from one of the sites. I mostly
surf reel.com,
amazon, and
DVD Express.
I also bought stuff at killer prices from
http://www.800.com and
http://www.shopping.com , but got glacially slow shipping from
both sites and are somewhat loathe to buy from them again. All the products
ordered but one came and shopping.com finally issued me a credit for the one
that never came, but it wasn't worth my time to dance around with them.
I might try them again sometime for a killer deal, but I have a tough time recommending them.
My technique is mainly to surf specials and buy movies that I want to collect
when the good deal comes around on them. The BEST page for that philosophy is
http://www.netspace.org/~thuang/dvdsearch/#SPECIALS
and you certainly want to check it out. I made it my default home page.
If you want certain movies NOW, then you want a price search engine.
My favorite was online at http://www.dvdhunt.com/ but I think that
they have discontinued that service (probably because their site sponsor
DVD Wave never came out on top of those searches.) It's still a cool site
and worth visiting, but for a price search, I'd probably recommend
http://www.dvdpricesearch.net/ which looks a lot like the old DVD hunt site.
(Could even be the same guys...)
If you have the time, other price search engines worth experimenting with
(that I haven't really used) include
There are others, but how many vendors can they be searching?
